Flyers’ Morgan Frost Signs Contract Extension

Center Morgan Frost has signed a two-year contract extension with the Philadelphia Flyers.

CapFriendly says the deal is done— two years, $4.2 million. The salary-cap hit is $2.1 million. The Daily Faceoff reported the deal was signed. An NHL source confirmed the news.

Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman reported Wednesday night that Frost was closing in on an extension.

In an interview with Flyers president of hockey operations Keith Jones last week, he didn’t hesitate when Philly Hockey Now asked about the status of the Frost negotiations.

“Not yet; close,” Jones said. “Morgan’s an important player for us in the future. That will work itself out.”

Frost has played 158 games over four seasons.

After a rough start last season that drew criticism from coach John Tortorella — Frost scored three goals in the first 27 games — the center played well the rest of the season. He finished with a career-high 19 goals and 27 assists for 46 points in 81 games last season.

Frost, 24, has 26 goals and 43 assists (69 points) in his NHL career. The Flyers drafted him in the 2017 first round, the 27th player chosen overall.

Frost is one of the few remaining unsigned restricted free agents.
